Tell us about conflicts darts create in home or work life? No conflict. If potential for one exists, darts lose, sorry!

What goals in darts do you have? HAVE FUN.LIFE IS SHORT!

What has been your best moment in darts?  While playing for the SSDL (South Suburbs Dart League) in the early1990′s, I threw a 12-dart Cricket game, and my first two darts were misses

What?s your advice to a newbie dart player? Start with the fundamentals, but establish your own style if necessary, but above all, be consistent!

What would make your league better and more fun? Can’t think of anything off the top of my head.

What does the sport need to help it grow/ improve its image? Get dartboard installed in recreation centers, promote youth leagues. As long as the game is played in bars, it will be perceived as a bar activity, not that there’s anything wrong with that.

In which league(s) do you play? GTEDL

How far from home do you play?___2_____miles.

How many days per week do you engage in darts? I pick darts up 5-7 days a week since the WSOD.

What kind of darts do you use: weight/ brand? 24 GR HAMMERHEADS

What other activity/sport do you participate in or watch? TOO MANY TO LIST

> What is the most annoying antic you see from other dart players? Poor sportsmanship such as comments being made while a person is at the line.

> Is league night too long, too short, just right? Just right is about 2-3 hours

> On which team(s) do you play? Firkin Tavern, Ewing,NJ

> Do you switch teams often?__NO

> Which other family members play? 0

> What conflicts are there with home or work life?

> It can be tough when you are President of a league and you have young children at home. In trying to achieve certain goals; my involvement in managing the league has become practically a daily task which does regrettably take away some of my time with family.

> What keeps you playing darts? The past year has really boosted my continued interest in darts. Each year I try to come up with ways of improving and making our league grow. This past season we honored our own local dart icon “Conrad Daniels” on his achievement 30 years ago when he became the first American to beat the British and a World Championship. It was very inspiring to get to talk to Conrad personally about his career and success in the sport of darts. A month later, the WSOD evolved and Conrad came out of retirement and began practicing against some of our local skilled shooters.

Around the same time that our league honored Conrad we also got to meet George Silberzahn and participated in a GHS tournament. We even ran one of the GHS tournaments amongst members of our league which was a big success and will become an annual event within our league.

Also this year the WSOD was born and I personally attended the final weekend tournament as well as the Philadelphia regional qualifier; it was a great experience and motivator. As soon as I got home after that looong weekend I picked up my darts and began trying to perfect my skills with tips from Conrad, George Silberzahn, and the WSOD. Since then I’ve been throwing 5-7 days a week for at least an hour a day.

> What goals in darts do you have? My goal for the past 6 years as President has been to put Trenton back on the map where it was 30 years ago when there were 800-1000 members and dart boards in every corner tavern. I would also like to see another world champion come out of

Trenton, NJ.

> What has been your best moment in darts? When your teammates are all behind you with words of encouragement and you throw that final dart to win the league championship!

> Advice to a newbie dart player?  Find a set of darts and grip that you feel comfortable with and try to perfect your stroke until it becomes a “good” habit. Remember to have fun and always think of your next dart and not the last “bad” one.

Player Profile: Anne Kramer

Monday, August 13, 2006 3:49 PM

Name: Anne Kramer
Age: 41
Marital Status: Married
City: Laguna Niguel, CA
Occupation: Dental Insurance Quality Management

Tell us about the beginning of your interest in darts.

One of my 6 brothers joined a league and I became his practice guinea pig. After that, all the other brothers and friends joined in and it became a nightly ritual. Three years later, I met JK and the rest is history.

In which league(s) do you play?

I am not able to play in any leagues due to the driving distance.

Which other family members play?

Hubby, of course, and sometimes our daughter and her fiancé.

How far from home do you play?

When we do go out locally, it is about a 40 mile drive on the freeway. We travel to tournaments when we can in CA, AZ, and NV….anything further gets too expensive for us in cost vs. payouts.

How many days per week do you play or engage in darts?

Practice everyday…or at least try to. We do not get out much to play.

What kind of darts do you use: weight/ brand?

For 20 years I used hubby’s signature Hammerheads, however, this year we came across the Unicorn Barry Twomlows and while he has a custom set from Unicorn based on the Golden Twomlows, mine are the regular tungsten ones….I love the grip. 24g for me.

What is the most annoying antic you see from other dart players?

I despise any male player that thinks he is above whoever he may get drawn with in an LOD and most especially if the partner drawn is a lady. My opinion is if you aren’t Phil Taylor, then you have no reason to complain….even though I think Phil would have too much class to complain.

Who are/is your favorite player(s) ?

Okay, if I do not say John Kramer, I would be in big, big trouble!
And without a doubt, from personal experience, the late great Nicky Virachkul. That Paul Lim fellow is a pretty awesome gent too.

Tell us about conflicts darts create in home or work life?

Blasphemy! On the contrary, work creates a problem in the dart life.

What goals in darts do you have?

Honestly, I just like to play and am happy with whatever I achieve. Its tough living with someone who has had the success JK has had. Kinda hard to top that, so why bother.

What has been your best moment in darts?

Probably during the short time JK and I were separated. I moved to another state and was playing 7 days a week. By mid-year I was in the top 10 for the national rankings and it really opened JK’s eyes that I really could play this darn game.

What’s your advice to a newbie dart player?

Never let the success of anyone else demean your achievements, always remember that we all started somewhere and did not magically become great overnight. So do not expect to become great overnight either!

What would make your league better and more fun?

More participation and people that cared enough to devote the effort required for success.

What does the sport need to help it grow/ improve its image?

It needs a “for profit” organization in order for the players to become “for profit” players. Without the mindset for big money and marketing, the game will eventually stagnate and not go any further than it has. Actually, I think it has stagnated.

How far would you travel to see national championship playoffs?

However far it would take for me to play in it.

Which game would interest you most in a national championship?

( )301 (x)501 ( )Cricket ( ) Other ( ) Combination

Should a national championship be best of?

( )3 ( )5 ( ) 7 (x) 11
