Tell us about the beginning of your interest in darts. My boyfriend at the time played with his friends when we went out; and rather than just sit I joined in. I have been playing ever since. I joined the league about 7 years ago, we formed an all girls team(tons of fun but not very good—- we didn’t care then and still don’t). I have since been on winning teams with the boys, but prefer a girls team for the fun.
In which league(s) do you play? Just Combo this season.
How far from home do you play? Home bar 1miles. The fartherest is about 8-10 miles
How many days per week do you engage in darts? Average of 2-3 nights
What kind of darts do you use: weight/ brand? I believe 16 g?? Brand??
What other activity/sport do you participate in or watch? Football & Scrap booking
What is the most annoying antic you see from other dart players? When the “boys” actually strategize against our team(mind you our team average is about a 1.7 / 13.0), instead of just playing the game and enjoying it. Also, when new players just assume that being a girl means we don’t what to shoot. We know the game; we just don’t take it as seriously!
Is league night too long, too short, just right? Just right.
On which team(s) do you play? Da Girls
How do you pick a team to play on? Level of Fun
Which other family members play? My husband and his oldest son
Tell us about conflicts darts create in home or work life? When I worked the occasional hang over wasn’t pleasant.
Also, my husband and I were on the same team—- we will not be doing that again. He plays a very serious game and darts is never worth an argument…. Plus this way, we both get a night out with friends.
What goals in darts do you have? I am always trying to improve, and will set season goal for my average; however after 7 years…..fun seems to be my biggest achievement when it comes to dart league
What has been your best moment in darts? I shot an average of a 3.0 in a play off game and my team came in first….. mind you, the other team heckled me relentlessly how I was a dead weight and that my captain should even let me play. Victory is sometimes very sweet!
What’s your advice to a newbie dart player? Go out for fun and you will really enjoy the game! Do your best, and avoid the drama!
